As a child i hated Disney for all these reasons, though I didn't grasp the full of it until recent years.
There is a blog I read somewhere about false strong females, which would include characters like Belle, who are smart and sexy, and usually the intent of the creators is to make it seem like they are strong and equal to the male characters. But in fact in the end they are useless and have to saved.
/rantAprilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10300404055883019408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1793796860533190430.post-54659945739421916752010-10-25T17:45:44.789-07:002010-10-25T17:45:44.789-07:00totes unrelated, but you two have the cutest layou...totes unrelated, but you two have the cutest layout ever!Eliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12283967842790993811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1793796860533190430.post-38843278638215858602010-10-25T07:06:35.115-07:002010-10-25T07:06:35.115-07:00Is it bad that I always liked Gaston better than T...Is it bad that I always liked Gaston better than The Beast? I never really payed attention to it. . . because it seemed. . . really. . . obvious to me. Like "Oh-- All girls look like this in the movies. Alright. Whatever."
Hell, even the women who were villains-- were. . . really-- portrayed as fat or something. . . you didn't really want to touch. . . fffff-- I don't know what I'm saying--
My teacher made us watch The Princess and the Frog to break that down-- and I guess. . . It's even in there too. Though most of us thought it was more racist than anything.
Ahh~ Movies and Philosophy.
I-- I always thought the Emperors New Groove and Atlantis were awesome-- ; A; I'm sad that they didn't get as much media attention.Corianderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02243920509031043181noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1793796860533190430.post-18438881262064752342010-10-25T00:19:38.189-07:002010-10-25T00:19:38.189-07:00I hate the gender stereotypes Disney was and still...I hate the gender stereotypes Disney was and still is guilty of perpetuating. I can't think of any female main character who gets what she wants by a means other than her sexuality and/or being saved by the man. The happy ending always seems to be true, heterosexual love between a stunningly beautiful princess and her studly protector-man. That's true of so many movies, though.Onehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15991983990400889470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1793796860533190430.post-5805181780012380252010-10-24T20:30:32.606-07:002010-10-24T20:30:32.606-07:00It's kind of funny some how people look to Dis...It's kind of funny some how people look to Disney Princesses as inspiration for their ideals.

I think these films show off a lot of traditional ideas. I agree with Ada on how these ideas can be sexist. Sometimes unintentionally. After all, they probably just pandering to an audience who just loves romantic and happy endings!HSPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07357639936622022019noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1793796860533190430.post-81911530547889607232010-10-24T19:04:01.139-07:002010-10-24T19:04:01.139-07:00Funny how Hitler was like in love with Disney.Funny how Hitler was like in love with Disney.AskAMassiveProhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04146395536909927850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1793796860533190430.post-32182837861638566402010-10-24T17:49:50.990-07:002010-10-24T17:49:50.990-07:00"You have no balls" is sexist because it..."You have no balls" is sexist because it assumes that men (people with balls) are automatically braver than people without. Things like "you're a pussy" are sexist for similar reasons - they use terms or slang most connected to women to denigrate people.

Traditional things can also be sexist xDAdahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15432936847413168994noreply@blogger.com
